Wakely Road path improvements

The Wakely Road shared path goes between Spenmoor Street/Lyndfield Lane in Newlands and Centennial Highway in Ngauranga.

We're upgrading the path to make it safer and easier for people walking and biking. This will provide better connections from the north to the central city and, in the future, with the region's wider cycle network.

The path has been closed during construction but the work here is almost done. People can use this route again but with some temporary restrictions while contractors finish the drainage work.

Walkers and uphill bikers can use the path at all times but will need to follow directions from the contractors during working hours – 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday – as trucks and machinery will be operating.

People biking downhill can use the shared path before 9am and after 4pm, Monday to Friday, and at any time during weekends.

Work to seal the path is likely to happen before the end of 2019 - this would take a few days.

Councillors approved the project in September 2017 following community engagement.
